What would Friday night be without high
school football? Let us go ahead and answer that question. It would
suck! Friday night was already pretty sweet. School's done for the
weekend and you finally have some time without constant barrage of
homework (really??? 3 hours a night. Really???). It's your time. High
schoolers still like to have fun, right? Yes they do and prep football
is siren call of fun for the weekend to start. We love Friday night and
it wouldn't be the same without the Friday Night Lights of the big
name. We wanted a Prep Sport badge that reflected the energy and buzz
that builds as Friday progresses along till your smack in the big
lights.
Before we jump into Friday Night LIghts, what exactly is a badge?
First of all, you don't wear it or pin it to the wall unless by wall,
you mean your Prep Sport Player Profile wall. The badge is our way of
giving a shout out to any visitors for what you're in to. We're
starting with 15 and it will only grow from there as we continue to see
cool stuff online by sport. You can switch em out any time so don't
worry about committing to one. The badges are your playground. Now
let's look at Friday Night Lights more closely.
The badge takes place against a black background to reflect the fact
that most high school football games occur at night and indoor. Yea,
Texas high school football may have astroturf but they're not in indoor
stadiums...yet. We'll give that another 5 - 10 years for those football
fanatics. As the animation continues you see big flood lights...a
beacon of outdoor football, sway across the badge. There are two
running light effects down the top and left that interact with the the
words "Friday Night" on the left and "Lights" on the right. The lights
tend to flicker in and out as the animation continues. Here at
prepSportFantasy.com, we love the first moment when the big flood
lights are turned on. There's that big "snap" sound and the lights
slowly warm up inconsistently. It means we're getting closer. Closer to
the hits, the runs, the catches. The lights are talking and what
they're saying is that some serious fun is about to come our way. The
animation loops back around with the light effect and that's the badge.
Part of the what makes high school football cool is that it's
usually played at night and outdoors. That's why you need the big
lights to begin with. If you think about it, what else in the life of a
high schooler requires giant arrays of floodlights other than prep
football? There must be something important in order to ramp up those
massive lighting giants. Yea, we've heard of Friday Night Lights in tv
shows and movies but to the average high school student, player, or
fan...the real show is right there in their home town...under the
lights.
